Tram 28 vs Tram 12

Traveling here in Lisbon, everybody seems to take Tram 28. Starting point of  Tram 28  is always crowded and a long line is expected. Well, in my case, I prefer Tram 12. Starting point of Tram 12  is not that crowded. It covers only 4 kilometers but goes to all the major places. Let's compare their routes. Tram 28 Tram 12  As you can see from both pictures, Tram 12 covers Praça da Figueira, Martim Moniz, the Miradouro das Portas do Sol, the Miradouro de Santa Luzia, cathedrals and more. Besides it only takes 20 minutes to go through all the stops. I linked info on Tram 28 and Tram 12 so you can decide whatever you like. I usually remind my guests staying at the airbnb to take Tram 12 to wrap up their visits at the end of their journey. After staying in Lisbon for days, it's a good way to refresh all the fun memories you have shared with your friends and family. Only 20-minute-ride but it can leave imprints on you...

Don't miss Ajuda National Palace, when you are in Belem district.

What if there were no earthquake in Lisbon? Things would be very different now. The Throne Room at Ajuda Palace After that incident, a lot of things changed. The Royal family lost their home and they need a new home fast. So Ajuda National Palace began as a temporary palace. Not only can you see the beautiful Portuguese palace but also you can enjoy different temporary exhibitions.  Due to the financial and political matters, it is still unfinished. However, despite its humble facade, it is well worth the visit. The Palace has more than 30 lavishly decorated rooms. Each room has laminated sheets of info in various languages so you can appreciate all the items in each room. You can see the number 34 on the upper left side, right? Lisbon metro, the fastest way to get around.

Heading downtown, I always walk. It's an easy walk as my house is not all the way up on the hill. However, coming back, I usually take the metro. There are many buses but the subway is the fastest way to get home.  It usually runs from 6:30 to 1 a.m. but the schedule may change.  So if you want to go out at night and head back home-away-home late, then click  here  to make sure when the last train is.  It's a blessing to ride an escalator after a long day of walking.  Even after strolling through the nooks and crannies of Lisbon hills, you may want to use an elevator instead of stairs, especially with bad knees. Some metro stations in Lisbon do have elevators and escalators. Before lugging a heavy bag or babystroller, please plan ahead and check the wheelchair signs on the metro map first.
