Following 'Night Train to Lisbon'

이미지
Based on  Pascal Mercier 's book Nachtzug nach Lissabon, the movie takes you to this lovely city, Lisboa. This picture is from IMDB.  In 2013, when I saw it for the first time, I never imagined I would live here and now. The only reason I encountered this treat at that time was I had a huge crush on Jeremy Irons. Haven't seen this film yet and want to learn more?  from IMDB Jeremy Irons, isn't he dreamy? Just click here  and watch the trailer. Ever since I took root here in this city, I have been combing all over Lisbon for the traces. Visitors around the world are also wandering and wondering whereabouts. If you are one of them, here are all the answers you've been searching for. Roaming the streets, I couldn't find some. It took me many trips to cover all the places. I don't want you to miss any spot, so I linked all the locations on the google map. Once named after dictator Salazar, the bridge was renamed as April 25th af...

New Year's resolution in Lisbon

이미지
It has been four days since I made my New Year's resolution. So far, so good. You may wonder what my resolution is. It's simple. Just one word. Mindfulness. Ever since I got settled in Lisbon, I have started to take everything for granted. Beautiful sunny skies, delicious food, and even friendly Lisbonians. I got so used to them that I almost forgot how lucky I am to be here and now. Mindfulness is said to be a natural quality we share. Everybody has a mind, you know. The view from my balcony. Mindfulness helps me to appreciate more everyday. Sometimes it's the other way around. Watching the beautiful skies helps me meditate better. But practicing mindfulness is a different story. If you want to know more about mindfulness, click  here . Easier said than done. Sometimes we including myself just let the life drift away, letting it go. Taking in everything without any judgment, you will find it all the more lovely. Mindfulness has improved the quali...

'Passagem de Ano' in Lisbon

이미지
It's the end of the year.   If you are visiting New York, right now you are headed to Time Square to watch the balldrop.  You might wonder what the balldrop is and why they do it.  If so, here  is the info.  In Lisbon, many people go to Comercio Square (Praça do Comércio) to celebrate. It's a wonderful place to say farewell to 2018 while watching fireworks. There is also live show you can enjoy, too.  The festivities have been going on since 29th and today the last day of 2018 the live show will be on at 10 p.m.  Right after finishing this story, I am heading to Praça do Comércio, too. You can usually access the square through Terreiro do Paço metro station . However on New Year's eve, it is closed. So it'd be better to get off at Baixa-Chiado metro station and walk up there. The announcements of Lisbon metro are usually in Portuguese, so if you don't speak the language, it's safe to follow the crowd. Whereve...
