Watching Notre-Dame

Last night Notre-Dame was engulfed by fire.
It took about 150 years to build the cathedral
but it only took about an hour to burn this treasure.

When I turned on TV last night,
almost all Portugal TV stations were covering the story live.
I watched the news until midnight worrying and praying.
The fire is suspected to have started at the roof.

Before the fire, the 16 statues were removed for the renovation.

Through the live new, I saw the tower got burned down.
It was such a tragic moment.

One fireman got hurt seriously while trying to put out the fire.
I hope he gets well soon.

In Korea, the national treasure was burned down due to arson sometime ago.
Koreans had to watch the NamDaeMun Gate get destroyed by fire.
As I witnessed that tragedy before, I couldn't sleep.
Following the live story until midnight
and watching people praying,
it felt surreal.
I bet no one imagined this tragic day before.

As Portugal went through the earthquake in 1755,
it lost a lot of treasures and monuments.
The picture of Opera house after the earthquake.
So it was more saddening to see Notre-Dame going through such a tragedy.
Inside Igreja de São Domingos
Whenever I go downtown here in Lisbon and pass by Igreja de São Domingos,
it reminded me of NamDaeMun.
Inside you can see how fire destroyed this beautiful Igreja.
King Luis's marriage at Igreja de São Domingos
Sometimes it's hard to imagine kings and queens getting married here.
King Luis got married here and his son King Carlos I, too.

I hope there is no more fire in anywhere anymore.
