Take the oldest Funicular in Lisbon

Lavra Funicular is the oldest in Lisbon, made in 1884.
Actually it is considered the oldest street funicular in the world.
Lavra funicular

Lavra Funicular was Designed by Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, who also made Santa Justa Elevador, Bica funicular, Gloria funicular in Lisbon and Nazare funicular possible.
It would be an uphill struggle to walk all the way up without Lavra funicular.

Unlike Gloria funicular which connects from Restauradores to Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, Lavra Funicular is not that crowded.

Yesterday I took both of them.
I didn't wait in line to take Lavra
but as for Gloria, I waited more than half an hour to get on.
There were just too many people standing in line to enjoy the ride.

If you want to experience Funicular ride but don't want to wait in line,
then Lavra is the best.

It takes you to a viewpoint called Miradouro do Jardim do Torel which is not known to many tourists.
So you can relax and enjoy the view of Lisbon.

Here is where you can ride Lavra Funicular.
