New Monthly pass is good for not only residents but also travelers.
As of April 1, Lisbon has a new monthly pass system.
It's much better than the one implemented before.
Now for only 30 euros a month,
you can access trams, buses, funiculars, Santa Justa Elevator and of course metro.
And for 40 euros a month,
you can access CP and boats to go to Sintra, Setubal, Cascais, Mafra etc.
Considering a daily pass of Sintra cost 15 euros,
it's a steal.
Very Very good deal.
However, it may take a while to fill in the forms to get the Lisboa Viva card to take advantage of this 40 euro Navegante system.
Get this form at the subway stations.
Not all the stations have it.
However, it is usually available at all the major traffic hub stations such as Rossio, Oriente, Airport, Sete Rios, Campo Grande, Marques de Pombal and so on.
You don't need to stand in line to get this.
Just look around the station and you can find it on the wall or somewhere.
Ask any friendly Portuguese nearby where the form is located
and he or she will let you know.
After filling in all the info and attaching the photo,
then stand in line with your application fee.
If you don't need the card right away,
it costs 7 euros and takes about 10 business days.
Too long? Then you pay 12 euros to expedite the process.
However, there are only two metro stations which offer this fast service.
So go to Campo Grande station or Marques de Pombal station.
The process takes only one day.
Get your card fast and enjoy your stay here in Lisbon.
Keep the card as it is valid for 6 years.
When you visit Lisbon next time,
you can use it again.
