Graça Viewpoint, commemorating Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen

The views from Graça Viewpoint are just breathtaking.
You can see Saint George Castle on your left
and Miradouro da Senhora do Monte(Senhora do Monte Viewpoint) on your right.

Even though everybody calls it Graça Viewpoint,
its original name is Miradouro Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen,
commemorating the poet.

You can see her bust at the Viewpoint cafe, always bustling with visitors and music.

She was born in Porto in 1919
and died here in Lisbon in 2004.
So you can also see her bust in Porto.

Inside Saint George Castle,
her famous poem 'Digo' is carved in various languages.

There is also an English version of course.

After reading this poem,
I just love watching the beautiful sunset in the Castle,
envying her talents of expressing her emotions and feelings.

As she was such an accomplished writer,
she rests in peace in Panteão Nacional.

Panteão Nacional

There is a must-see right next to Graça Viewpoint.
Inside are beautiful azulejos describing Saints of Portugal.
They are worth the visit.
Take your time strolling through the hallway after watching the details of azulejos.
Some of the Saints' faces were worn off.
What a shame.
