One foggy day in Lisbon - airport trouble

Today was the day my beautiful guest from Valencia was leaving.

Even though Lisbon is known for her beautiful sunny skies,
in winter it sometimes gets really foggy,
making me wonder whether I am in Lisbon or in London.

Winter mists can be kind of exotic to those who got used to sunny skies like Lisbonains.

Winter is low season so it's much easier to get around.
Less crowded and less waiting.
The downside is the tricky weather.

So when she booked my house,
I checked the weather forecast and everything seemed great.
No rain whatsoever.

She even mentioned she enjoyed beautiful sun at my living room throughout her stay.
(My house faces south, soaking in all the sun in winter.
It feels great snuggling on the couch and sunbathing.)
In winter, it makes a big difference whether you have your sun all day or not.
It's a blessing to live in a house facing south.
But today... it was way too misty.
This kind of inclement weather could lead to planes getting canceled or delayed.

That's why as soon as I got up, I looked out the window.

Lisbon Oceanarium
It's close to the Tejo River,
meaning more mists.

Not wanting her to get stuck at the airport,
I was going to tell her in case her flight got canceled
and she needed to stay one more day, just come back.
But the forecast said it would let up soon so I didn't worry at all.

She ordered a ride through the taxify app and got the airport safely.
(It cost her only 5 euros, much more affordable than taxi.)

It doesn't look like Lisbon, does it?

Then her trouble started.
Her flight got REALLY REALLY delayed.
Between waiting all day for her flight and taking a bus to the next destination, she chose the latter.
I had no idea what she was going through.
Since she didn't want me to worry, she didn't contact me for help.

Later, I sent her a text, wondering if you got to her next airbnb safe and sound.
Then she told me what happened.

Come to think of it,
I should have mentioned she can check real time departures before heading to the airport.
My bad.

In winter, fogs can hinder your travel plans.
You could either be stuck at the airport all day
or turn to buses or trains and try to stick to the plans.

Whatever happens, I hope you can troubleshoot anything and enjoy the rest of your journey.
