Must-sees on Tram 12 route

Taking Tram 12 from the starting point to the last stop
only takes 20 minutes.

It starts from Figueira Square,
which has a statue of John I who fathered the navigator Henry.
You can check out all the stops and what to see.

(1) Martim Moniz
The first stop.
You can see people lining up to take Tram 28.
Martim Moniz Square is known
to be very multi-cultural, especially at night.

(2) Socorro
(3) Largo Terreirnho
=> Just nothing that special happen.

(4) Rua Lagares
If you are into Alfama,
the tram now passes through it.

(5) São Tomé
Love Fado?
Then you know the legendary Queen of Fado Amalia Rodirigues.
This stop has her portrait by Vhills.
It's a must-see.

(6) Largo Portas Sol
So famous that I am sure you know what to do here.
Get off the tram to see the best viewpoint in Lisbon.

You can access São Jorge Castle(the castle of St. George) here
but it's quite an uphill walk.

(7) Miradouro Santa Luzia
The view is much better from Miradouro Portas Sol.
However, this viewpoint has something special to offer.
You have to see the two beautiful azulejos.

One describes the glorious Comerce Square before the earthquake.

The other is about the Christians attacking São Jorge Castle.

(8) Limoeiro
Three things you shouldn't miss at this stop.

You have to walk a little
but here are two museums to enjoy
Museum of Lisbon Roman Theater
and Museu do Aljube Resistência e Liberdade.

Fábula Urbis is a great bookstore
which has almost everything about Lisbon.

(9) Sé
Make sure to visit Sé Cathedral, a.k.a. Lisbon Cathedral.
Saint Antony church and museum are also must-sees.

Whenever I go to Saint Antony church,
I go down to the crypt to pay tribute to him
as the guardian of this beautiful city.

A little walk from the church takes you to Casa dos Bicos,
that is, José Saramago museum.

(10) Rua Conceição| Rua Fanqueiros
Close to Commerce Square,
you can walk to Church Nossa Senhora da Conceição Velha.
It's a must-see
if you love the architecture style known as Manueline.

That style is one of the reasons
you visit Jeronimos monastery in the Belem district.

(11) Praça Figueira
Now you are back to square one.

On tram, there is no announcement
at which stop you are right now.
So it's safer to install an app called Moovit.

It shows where you are,
where your stop is
and you can set an alarm not to miss your stop.
