Sintra, now I understand why it is called Eden
My trip to Sintra just 25 km from Lisbon started at the Oriente Train Station.
Every ten minutes or so the train takes people to this heavenly city.
Don't get me wrong.
As a Lisbonian, which I am proud of calling myself, I do love my city.
However, it's worth visiting Sintra.
I went there twice and both times the weather was gorgeous.
Much colder than here in Lisbon, but warm enough to walk through the palaces and parks.
My favorite is the Quinta da Regaleira, not the Pena Palace.
Well, the Pena Palace is definitely colorful and beautiful but just too many people to enjoy the visit. Too popular I guess.
Here are my must-see list in Sintra.
(1) Quinta da Regaleira.
Don't need any explanation.
Please just go visit.
(2) Pena Palace and Park
Inside of the palace is full of history
and the park itself is very grand.
Don't miss the Chalet of the Countess.
It's quite a walk but worth the visit.
Unfortunately, I got lost in the park and couldn't visit the chalet.
So I am definitely returning to the park to see it.
(3) Palace National of Queluz and garden.
A little away from the rest of must-sees so not many people visit this beautiful palace and garden.
I just love it here.
Impressed by its beauty, I even bought a book on the garden of Queluz.
(4) Palace National of Sintra.
Full of history.
Situated in downtown of Sintra,
it has easiest access, I guess.
(5) Moorish Castle
Well, I saw it from the Pena Palace and park
but I didn't go there yet.
Sintra has just so many must-visits
that I had no choice but to skip this place.
Maybe on my third visit, I will walk on the castle wall.
(6) Monserrate
I just love the park there.
They call the mansion a palace,
well it's kind of small.
But the park is just the place I want to spend the whole day picnicking
while listening to the birds.
(7) Vila Sassetti
The walk to Vila Sassetti is full of surprise.
It's just a must.
No entrance fee to enjoy the walk.
(8) Capuchos Convent
It's kind of far and by the public transportation it is hard tot gain access.
So far I haven't seen anyone close to me visit there yet.
